So, I’m a member of a website called fullfiggas.com (not a bad place at all. Check it out when you have a chance) and on there I asked a simple question, the gist of which was something like “There are two young, similarly attractive women in a club. One is maybe 5′8″ and about 90 lbs with no curves at all. The other is a BBW in all her glory, well put together, very curvy, but weighs about 300 lbs. Which of the two would get picked up in the club quicker?”

Now mind you, fullfiggas.com is a bbw friendly forum, so I made sure to add the caveat that this is a mainstream club and that the guys doing the picking up weren’t necessarily FAs (man, I’m beginning to not like that term. But that’s another blog).

The good thing is is that for a while, the polling was about 50-50, with some posters making some great points, and detailing their experiences where they’ve been the center of attention when their slim women were on the sidelines. Now don’t get me wrong; I don’t see this as an “us vs. them” sort of thing, where BBWs have to win against the evil skinny bitches, just that it was nice to see assertive women, confident in who they are, and receptive to the idea that they are damn sexy.

I’ve been a part of the BBW community for a while now. Or at least I should say I’ve known about the BBW community for a while now. When I decided to start this blog, I did some quick research to see what other similar blogs were out there. So I fired up trusty ol’ google and typed in ” BBW Blog”

Oh my.

So, after looking upon page upon page (upon page) of porn sites, It hit upon me to do a search for “fat blogs” instead.

Okay, now here we go. The links seemed interesting. There were definitely a few more than I had thought, especially after having strolled through fat porn alley (hmmm… that would actually be an interesting alley to stroll through, hypothetically) a few searches ago. In fact, there were a lot more, a whole community of links and blogs, with their own subsets, pet peeves, niches and points of view. Blogs like bigfatblog.com, and pdxwoman, just two sites that caught my bleary eyes (I was doing this search at about 3:30 am, and I know there were other, just as interesting sites and blogs) . This was hardcore.

Question was, was I?

I mean, I’m just an average sized dude who happens to be friends withs and be attracted to women who are on society’s wrong side of averaged-sized. I didn’t need to be some sort of advocate for a cause (well, maybe I do), nor was/am I asked to be one.

But then I looked at some of the other blogs posted, and realized that, as clichéd as it sounds, there are many parts of the fatoshpere (one of the terms I just picked up), and of course there is space enough for the “militant” sites, and there’s probably space for me. Now finding an audience for what I write…well that’s another story. A story that’ll be written for better or worse, in the coming days weeks and months.
